Doing any type of remodeling project, you always have three goals in mind before starting. You want to get the best possible price, you want the highest quality materials on the market, and you want the project to go as smoothly as possible with a quality finish at the end. You can do all of this without having to sacrifice on the quality of vinyl siding materials by doing the installation yourself. Even if you don’t feel comfortable with doing the siding installation, you can do other things like preparation. For example, when I visit a home to give a siding estimate I’ll suggest removal of the existing siding, you can remove the siding yourself and save a lot of money right here! On a typical 2,500 square foot house, your vinyl siding cost will be reduced by 2,500 -3,000 on average – that’s huge!
Furthermore, if you can handle the removal of your existing siding, I’m sure you can handle the installation of a house wrap weather barrier. Installing a fan-fold type insulation or house wrap can help reduce vinyl siding cost as much as 1,000 bucks on labor. By doing these two things, right off the bat your saving roughly 3,500 -4,ooo dollars by doing some of the work yourself.
Shopping around for the best vinyl siding price
Growing up, I was always taught – “you’ve got to shop around to find the best price.” You also don’t want to stop there, try to negotiate a better price with the supplier. There’s always promotional items that will be going on sale or, that are currently on sale. Most promotional vinyl siding products are the premium styles. Ask the salesman if there are any discounted items, you can always get a great deal on these because the supply house want to move them for other vinyl siding products.
Once you’ve found the type of vinyl siding you like, shop around. Be sure your comparing the same products when shopping and negotiating prices with salesman.
